There Is A “Business Coach” And A “Business Coach”

There is a “Business Coach” and a “Business Coach”

  • News

Today all sorts of people are claiming to be a Business Coach without being able to demonstrate or prove their qualifications for the job.

These same business coaches claim to have a ‘wealth of experience’ but what does that really mean?   It seems to have become somewhat of a cliché.  These so called ‘business coaches’ are promising businesses that they can make all their problems disappear if only they would hire their business coaching services.

I’ve become increasingly frustrated with people alleging to be a ‘small business coach’ who do not have the skills or experience to deliver results for clients.  These people are giving business coaching a bad name and for this reason I’m reluctant to be associated with the term ‘business coach’.  I prefer to be called a Business Advisor.   A lot of people can call themselves business coaches because the profession is still unregulated.  It’s like someone reading a financial textbook without having qualifications and practical experience, and then calling themselves a financial planner.

In my opinion, good business coaches or business advisor all have a little grey hair, often quite a lot.  We’ve been around the traps, with real-world experience, offer solid business advice and usually lead successful business lives.  We’ve had real-lifehands-on experiences that have helped businesses grow, and we’ve carved out careers buildingrunning and owning successful businesses ourselves.

To have simply completed a business coaching course is not enough and does not compare to many years of on-the-ground, real-world experience.

I actually do bring a ‘wealth of experience’ to the table with my strong financial background in roles such as International Group Treasurer, General Manager Finance and Commercial Manager for large multinational companies.  I hold the position of Deputy President of CPA Australia Queensland Divisional Council, which gives me the expertise and knowledge in financial and management accounting, treasury, compliance, business consultancy and strategic business development.  I’ve also worked with a multitude of small to medium sized businesses in all sorts of industries.

My personal approach consists of working face-to-face with my clients fostering strong relationships leading to successful outcomes.  I help businesses on all different levels, from people starting a business to those wanting to take their business success to the next level.  My unique investigation process of analysis, planning, up-skilling and action ensures I get the right result for businesses to achieve business success.

I also own an accounting firm offering business accounting services and a business training company specialising in business training programs all under the same roof, which is located in North Lakes, on the northside of Brisbane.

Most successful businesses have used or use a business coach to get where they are today. You can’t be an expert in all aspects of your business!   It’s just a matter of getting the right one for your business. If you’re one of the following then you need a business coach:

  • feeling overwhelmed in your business
  • your business has stagnated
  • you’re doing everything in your business
  • your team is not effective
  • your staff turnover is high your team morale is low
  • sales are low your cashflow is low
  • your profits are low you’re ready to give up
  • your business can’t run without you.

If you need a business coach or as I like to call it a business advisor with the right skills and many years of real-world experience, or you’d like to undertake either a Business management certificate or Cert 4 business, contact me today atiand@shorelinegroup.com.au, phone: 07 3491 5888 or just drop in and visit me at Level 1, 29 Flinders Parade, North Lakes.  I’m the one with the grey hair.
